Dad turns his 6 year old’s drawings into ‘real life’ and the results are creepily amazing

Kids love drawing. From the typical house with a sun in the corner to an 8-legged ferocious t-rex in a spacesuit riding a rocket to Mars, there’s seemingly no end to a child’s creativity.

It’s also a great way for children to express themselves. Many have yet to develop their vocabulary, so it’s an excellent way for them to express themselves where words fail them. It’s also an interesting insight into how their memory records what they perceive the world to be. And thanks to the internet, many of these memories are immortalized forever.

The Instagram account @thingsihavedrawn does just that. The account is by “Al and Dom”, who are children, with some help from their dad, Tom. Tom takes drawings from his children and photoshops them onto animals (or people) to bring them to life. They’ve managed to amass over 170,000 followers with fewer than 300 posts to Instagram. They also have a book called Things I Have Drawn: At the Zoo, which currently has 5 stars on Amazon.

The results are… Interesting.

The cute scribbles of a child turn into some very creepy (and funny) looking…. Animals? Yeah, animals. We’ll go with animals.

All I know is that I am definitely going to try to do this with my own kids’ drawings, though my photoshop skills are not even close to the level this dad is on!
